ABOUT Helen Grays-Jones
Banking Executive / Community Partnerships - Meriwest Credit Union
Helen Grays-Jones is the Bay Area Market Manager for Meriwest Credit Union. She has over 30 years of experience as a leader in Banking and Financial Services. A native Californian, Helen started her career at Crocker Bank quickly moving up the ranks to management. She worked for several larger banks in various leadership roles, eventually leaving to join the Credit Union Industry. She was a member of the Executive Team in her prior Credit Union and joined her current employer to oversee employee development, community outreach and overall management of the retail branches in her region.
Helen was recognized as leader of the year 9 times during her career. She was a project manager for large scale initiatives that included analyzing market trends for new branch locations, launching digital delivery systems and developing relationships with C-Level Executives in some of the valley’s largest high tech companies to contribute towards corporate growth initiatives. Helen served as President for the Santa Clara Chapter of the California/Nevada Credit Union League for three years.
Early in her career, Helen began volunteering at nonprofits focused on helping underserved youth reach their full potential. She soon learned that many youth were missing basic life skills. She developed and facilitated a workshop series for women and youth at the YWCA, Bill Wilson Center, Child Advocates and the NFL Alumni’s youth program. She has facilitated workshops at Mission College, Santa Clara University’s Finance Student Program, Mission College’s STEM Student Program and San Jose State’s Center for Banking Program. She has been a supporter/facilitator at SEMI Hi-Tech University and continues to receive requests from students to assist in mock interviews to prep for future interviews.
Helen has received numerous community service awards for her volunteerism, financial literacy facilitation and support of corporate leaders, startup incubators and educators to improve the financial literacy of their employees. She has worked with organizations including the Elder Financial Protection Network, Chinese American SemiConductor Professionals, California Cricket Academy, The Primary School, National Association of Professional Women, Women in Money Network and financial curriculum contributor to the Santa Clara Unified School District.
