In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and various shelter-in-place mandates, we have decided to pause all in-person events for the time being. We do not want to risk putting program participants and volunteers in danger. We appreciate your patience with this evolving situation.

We are building online content that will allow you to continue learning about the semiconductor industry and to interact with a variety of high-tech companies. Make sure you keep checking back here for updates. And for updates on all SEMI Foundation programs, make sure to join our mailing list here.

Our High Tech U (HTU) is a three-day program for high school students who want to know more about careers in the tech industry. Students put science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills to use during hands-on workshops led by industry volunteers.

All workshops are activity-based and taught by tech professionals:

  • Light up the room with an experiment facilitated by an engineer
  • Make your own wafer with a manufacturing engineer
  • Launch hacky sacks with quality engineers to see the importance of statistics
  • Become a human calculator to see how logic gates work
  • Interview with a tech recruiter or manager to learn how to get the job you want
  • Flex your teamwork skills to solve a real-world problem

In addition to seeing the connection between STEM classes and tech careers, students hear from industry professionals about their school-to-work journeys.

Do you wonder what it’s like to work in high tech? Are you a hands-on learner? Are you a sophomore, junior or senior? If your answer is yes, then you’ll love SEMI High Tech University (HTU).
